Outdoor Recreation

St. Lawrence County is the largest county in New York State, with 2,822 square miles stretching from the banks of the St. Lawrence River to the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.

Easy Access Waterfalls

One of the greatest natural attractions of St. Lawrence County are the majestic waterfalls found throughout the area. No matter what the season you can enjoy the falls, where for over two hundred years, area residents have built their homes and mills. They are the perfect destination for recreation and relaxation, maybe even an afternoon picnic. A printed Waterfalls guide for St. Lawrence County is also available in our office or by request.

Fishing in St. Lawrence County is among one of the most popular outdoor activities, with over 200 rivers, ponds, lakes and streams to explore. Year round, for every age and skill level, there are always fish to be caught. The St. Lawrence Chamber of Commerce publishes the Angler’s guide, full of information written by local anglers about fishing in the local waters. You can also visit our fishing website www.fishcap.net for more information.

Scenic Golf Courses

St. Lawrence County features 15 golf courses from par threes to meticulously groomed, challenging courses. The Massena Country Club and the St. Lawrence State Park Golf Course are both located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. Partridge Run and St. Lawrence University Golf Courses both offer 6,000 plus yards, par 72 courses within the village of Canton. The Potsdam Town & Country club offers an 18-hole course and is a good place to get a steak dinner following the round.
